Sexual Orientation and Religious affiliation: in conflict or communion

File 1108Conversion therapy is a growing concern for the ethical therapist working with Gender and Sexual Minority clients. It's practice is unanimously condemned by most accrediting organisations, such as UKCP. Yet, in a recent research, Professor Mike King revealed that 12% of UK therapists would agreed to change a client's sexual orientation should he/she requests so. This is leading to a number of Gender and Sexual minority clients confused and affected by what can only be called malpractice based on religious beliefs. It is time we address ethically the harmony or dissonance that may resides within faith and sexual orientation.
