1st International LGBT Human Rights Summit in the UK

There are millions of people throughout the world that work towards the achievement of better equality and human rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. Their passion and relentless effort is often guided by the desire for inclusion, equality, non-discrimination and a sense of community.
Nevertheless, passion and effort has proven not to be enough at a global level, especially in those countries that are still proving to be extremely hostile and slow in the development and implementation of policies and laws that protect LGBT people, promote and achieve change, and increase understanding and awareness with the general public.
This conference offers the opportunity for participants to explore and understand how the application of International human rights standards is the fundamental for the development of a framework for the protection of people who are excluded or whose rights are being violated because of their sexual orientation or their gender identity.
