LGBT make your voice stand out
Launch of the London lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth council.
The london lgbt youth council will work to ensure that after years of disenfranchisement from statutory and voluntary sector services, that young lgbt people are given the opportunities to be included in the planning, consultation and work of those agencies whose services affect their everyday lives. the youth council will give young lgbt people the chance to work in partnership with key agencies to ensure that the services delivered are equitable to all. we want to challenge homophobia and transphobia and to promote the human and civil rights of young lgbt people.
The launch event promises to not be just another conference, but a real opportunity to explore the issues affecting young lgbt people, but it’s not just for them - it’s also for the people who support them and the people whose decisions affect them. the workshops will give participants a great opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas and debate issues - all of which will contribute to the work of the youth council. but we don’t want you to leave with nothing, so the workshops will also give you an opportunity to learn something new and take back some fresh ideas for your own work.
When the workshops have finished we’ll hear some key note speeches from the mayors office, the office of the children’s commissioner and the uk youth parliament, during which drinks will be served and after which, participants will have the chance to mingle.
