File 538This is an opportunity to catch up with new trends in information systems management at the 2010 Charity Finance Directors Group (CFDG) IT Conference. This year’s conference follows up on last years conference by focusing on strategic issues of direct relevance to a finance director who is responsible for IT.

The key underlying theme this year is the importance of defining and measuring the benefits of IT within your organisation. As a finance director responsible for IT it is your responsibility to ensure that the IT function is seen as an enabler rather than just a cost-centre.

With this in mind CFDG have presentations this year on building an IT strategy; developing a business case; benchmarking the IT function; and developing a web strategy. CFDG will also have a theme that looks broadly at the processes and relationships that underpin best practice in IT. Under this heading the day will also look at outsourcing; consortium working, project consolidation and team building. The formal part of the day concludes with some ‘blue-sky’ thinking from Professor Peter Cochrane who will be looking at what the major developments in IT are that we will have to take account of in the next few years.

The combination of strategic focus and technological trends will give you food for thought and help you understand the impact and implications of IT for your organisation.
